Our goal is to give INRA technologies and know-how the best chances of reaching their market. This is why we attach great importance to technology transfer and to the formation of balanced, fruitful partnerships between INRA laboratories and businesses.
In 2016, INRA Transfert is involved in the operations of four Carnot institutes coordinated by INRA:
Each of these institutes consists of a network of laboratories known for their strong commitment to research partnerships with businesses in their sector of activity.
INRA Transfert assists in promoting the laboratories' array of expertise to businesses. At the request of companies, INRA Transfert introduces them to laboratories and research teams in line with their needs. We then support the scientific teams of both parties in pursuing their joint research projects. We negotiate intellectual property rights and the terms under which the results can be used in consideration of the contributions, needs and strategies of the two parties

What is the Carnot label? The Carnot label was created in 2006 to promote research partnerships, i.e. research work carried out jointly by public laboratories in partnership with socio-economic actors, mainly companies (from SMEs to large groups), in response to their needs. Research partnerships are an important economic driver because they promote innovation in business, which is a determining factor for growth. The Carnot label is awarded for a renewable period of five years to public research structures, known as the Carnot institutes, which conduct upstream research activities, to help them hone their scientific and technological skills while simultaneously implementing a proactive research partnership policy to benefit the socio-economic sphere.
